"10"

I cannot believe my girl will be ten on Monday,the 16th. Time flies! I remember when we brought her home from the hospital, I had no idea what to do with her, how to change her, bathe her, how to deal with the projectile spit-ups she had after every feeding. I also remember being obsessed with her, being so particular with what she wore and being so rigid with her schedules. As she got a little older, we taught her baby "sign-language", had every children's book written and read them every night before bed, taught her numbers, colors, letters before the age of 18 months, had her potty trained at 2..as a teacher, I thought these things were important.

She was such a happy little girl, full of smiles, although she did have her moments. At times, she was a difficult, and the terrible two's were...Terrible! Although now I wonder if it was her that was difficult,or that it was I, a first time mother, being so unprepared for every stage she went through.

I remember when she started PK..going off to school in her little plaid school uniform and mary janes. I also remember the agony of the drop-off..everyday, for the first month, we had tears, and on several occasions, she came running down the hall after me, clinging to my leg. She loved school though, and still does. She is so very bright, and spends most of her waking hours reading. She loves her computer, her iPod, cheering and blueberries. She is a huge help to me, always there to watch after the little ones, picking up the playroom, getting lunch together for all. We are so grateful that she is a part of our family.

In a blink of an eye, another 10 years will pass, and she'll be 20..an adult, making her own way and beginning her life, but no matter how many years pass..she will always be my "Little Ray"..my first born baby girl.
