Finally..our house is finished...

After almost two years..it's done...it's finally done. I would have never imagined that it would have been such a long process..Actually from beginning to end..it has been almost four years.

I'll try and make a very long story short..we put our home up for sale, we loved the house, but it was about 45 minutes away from the girls school and we spent our life on the "other-side" town..we needed to be closer..we bought a lot and designed a home and waited for ours to sale..it took over a year for that to happen..and we ended up giving it away..we were desperate. When we finally sold it, the buyers wanted in ASAP..Yikes..we had not begun construction on our new home..plus I found out that I was pregnant with our third child and wanted to re-design the new home. We had nowhere to go..we couldn't find a rental..My DH's mother offered her home to us..she went to stay with her sister in the guest house..we moved into there..it was small..but my husband assured me it would only be for nine months or so...well, when Adler was about 12 weeks old..we found out we were pregnant with our fourth..Piper. Now, the house wasn't going to work..it was originally designed for two children. We sold the lot and started over..we found another lot, designed a house and waited for permits to be pulled to begin construction...it was supposed to take 30 days..it took 11 months to get the permits!! In the meantime, I had given birth to Piper..so now we had 2 adults, 2 girls, 2 babies and a dog living in 1200sq foot. I couldn't take it..We found a rental house that was perfect. We have been living in this house for about a year and a half..but now..we are outta here..finally..our house is complete. We signed on Friday, we have to be out of this house by the end of the month..so we have a little time to get everything moved over...

I went over and tried to get some shots..I don't know how those interior photographers do it..it was really tough to get shots that were pleasing..anyways, just thought I'd share them.

Warning..photo overload...

This is a shot from the pool deck..I am so excited about all those windows..can't wait to get that natural light streaming in..the rental was such a dungeon.

The front entrance leading into the formal living area.

Kitchen and breakfast room

Kitchen..the cabinets weren't supposed to be this dark...

Upstairs..the kids room and the girl's gameroom

My favorite room in the house..the master bathroom

And last..the fixtures..There's a funny story behind this..we needed to go pick them out..I called my DH and asked when we would be doing that..he proceeded to tell me that he had already done it..What?? I came un-done..I couldn't believe he picked the lighting out without me..I couldn't sleep..I was so nervous about what he had picked..he assured me that the lighting "expert" helped him..well, I was pleasantly surprised when I finally saw them..he actually did a pretty good job.

Now, the move, I am not looking forward to this, especially with 4 kiddos under my feet, but when we are finished it will be so good to finally have a place to call home.

LOVE your new home! All I could think about was all the amazing new places you have for photography now! We recently moved to Los Angeles and had to move into a 1400 sq ft townhome. I've only got 3 kids, but I feel your pain - your old pain. :) Downsizing is hard, but congrats to you!!
